ABOUT THE BOOK
This is Volume II of the Lew Stoner letters. It is built on twenty letters between Stoner and Ted Trueblood, a well-published, mid-20th century outdoor writer. In it, the reader will find how Stoner came to terms with a new technology that in only ten years radically changed the fishing rod manufacturing business. Readers will find their discussions a major departure from the topics in Volume I, The Lew Stoner Winston Letters (Whitefish Press, 2013) which showed other facets of Stoner as a small businessman.

Volume I provides insights into how Stoner ran his business; specifically in relation to customer service, communicating complex ideas clearly and concisely in writing, and how to work with dealers as well as customers while upholding the reputation and integrity of the Winston Rod Company. Volume II witnesses a small businessman addressing the effects of technological change on his business. Together these two volumes address basic issues confronting virtually every company, then and now.

Edited, annotated, and with an introduction by Joe Beelart, this book includes as an appendix the seminal Ted Trueblood article "The Challenge of the Glass Rod" -- an article that Lew Stoner critiqued and commented on in the letters in this book.
